HassBoard for macOS — Last updated March 25, 2026
Overview
HassBoard is a macOS menu bar application that connects to your self-hosted
Home Assistant instance. Your
privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data the app handles
and how it is stored.
Data We Do Not Collect
HassBoard does not:
- Collect, transmit, or share any personal data with third parties
- Include analytics, crash-reporting, or tracking SDKs
- Communicate with any server other than the Home Assistant instance you configure
- Store or process any data in the cloud
Data Stored on Your Device
All data remains on your Mac:
-
Configuration — your sensor, alert, camera, and
card settings are saved locally in
~/Library/Application Support/HassBoard/configuration.json.
-
Authentication token — your Home Assistant
long-lived access token is stored in the
macOS Keychain, protected by the operating system.
It is never written to disk in plain text and is never included in
configuration exports.
-
Preferences — minimal UI state (e.g., last
selected page) is kept in standard macOS User Defaults.
Network Communication
HassBoard connects exclusively to the Home Assistant URL you provide in
its settings. All requests are made directly from your Mac to your Home
Assistant server. No intermediary servers or proxies are involved.
Children's Privacy
HassBoard is not directed at children under the age of 13 and does not
knowingly collect information from children.
